The Richlandtown Volunteer Fire Company, as well as other local volunteer fire companies,
relies heavily on donations throughout the year to support our organization.
And like other fire companies, we are constantly struggling to meet the demands of staying in
operation. The costs of apparatus, equipment and personal protective gear in some cases
have doubled or tripled over the last ten years.
A fire truck that cost $250,000 in 1997 may cost in excess of $600,000 today.
Personal protective gear to outfit just one firefighter can cost in excess of $3000.
Richlandtown , and all of our surrounding communities, relies 100 % on volunteers to staff
the fire companies. There are no paid positions. The volunteers complete schooling, they
train, they practice, they drive the trucks, maintain the equipment, put out the fires, clean up
the spills, respond to accident scenes, direct the traffic, and behind the scenes,
conduct the business of the fire companies. All on their own time.
The sense of pride in serving their community is the only reward.
For many fire company members, it is also a family tradition for many generations.
The Richlandtown Fire Company, along with surrounding area fire companies, operates on
a mutual aid system, which means, in short, that we “have each others backs”.
No fire company operates exclusively in their own municipality,
but assists its neighboring community when dispatched.
When there is a fire in Quakertown, Richlandtown Fire Company may be there.
When there is a fire in Richlandtown, Haycock Fire Company may be there.
The fire companies support each other, which is why it is important for the citizens
of each community to show their support for their local fire company.
Please show your support and donate generously to your local fire company.
Support the volunteers who so selflessly provide the services required to keep your community
a safe community.
If you are not sure which fire company covers the area in which you live,
please call our station, leave a brief message stating your home’s location,
and a return phone number, and one of our members will return your call.
We will do our best to direct you to the proper fire department.
Richlandtown Fire Station phone number ( for non-emergencies) is 215-536-2416.
Always dial 911 for all emergencies.
